| 01/04/2008 | When we arrived the room wasn't ready. We waited an hour to find that we had a twin room, not a double as we asked. We were then charged extra for double, when we were orignially told it was the same price. General cleaniness was poor - stained towels and blankets. The sheets were threadbare and scratchy, bobbled and didn't smell clean. The curtain was totally inadequate. Advertised with kitchen, instead only had a vending machine that charged $1 for half a cup of hot water. Advertised ironing facitities, only had an iron and a very old board with no cover. Then the only place to plug the iron in was in a walk way and the staff kept giving me filthy looks. Generally staff were unfriendly and unhelpful and seemed only to be there to extort as much cash out of you as possible. Then there is safety. The plug sockets in the room were loose and faulty. The elevator was temporamental at best, but was the only way down to the basement since the stairs were unsafe. This is obviously a fire hazzard. The basement wasn't even avoidable since thats where the baggage lockers are. Don't do it! Don't go there! Certainly don't give them your cash! |
| 02/04/2008 | Hallo, hatte ein 4-Bettzimmer in West End Studios Hostel gebucht, das dann leider nicht frei war. Wurde weitergreicht zum West Side Inn, 237 W 107th Street. Es ist nicht weit entfernt von der Metro und in netter Nachbarschaft an der Upper Westside. Leider hat das Hostel schon ein paar Jährchen auf dem Buckel, was man ihm auch ansieht. Das Zimmer war ziemlich oll und die Badezimmer, die man sich mit den anderen teilen muss, laden nicht gerade zum ausgiebigen Duschen ein. Für Leute die lediglich nach einer "günstigen" Schlafgelegenheit suchen, ist es okay. Tipp von mir: unbedingt Flipflops mitbringen! |
